Bring it on
Who doesn't stop and watch the cheerleaders on ESPN? I don't care if you’re male or female, then you've probably stopped and watched the cheerleading before. Whether you watch it for the girls or for the talent and energy they bring, there's something for everyone. Bring it on gives us a glimpse of the life of those high school cheerleaders and from a very funny perspective.
Bring it on stars Kirsten Dunst, from Spiderman fame, and Eliza Dushku, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Kirsten Dunst plays the captain of a high school cheerleading squad with great ambitions of taking the squad to a sixth national championship. Eliza's character is a former gymnast who gets moved to this new school. She believes that cheerleading is ridiculous, but she needs an outlet for her gymnastics, so she tries out for the squad.
Eliza's character realizes that the routines the squad is using are stolen from another squad from back where she was from. Hilarious situations arise from this event, including when the squad has to learn a new routine and learn "spirit fingers" (if you haven't seen the movie, you'll understand this after you see it).
I would recommend this movie to anyone that just wants to have a good time. This is not one of those "intellectual" movies, but it will probably leave you smiling when you are finished. Again, there are no Oscar award-winning performances here, but there are no noticeably bad performances either. So just watch and enjoy.
I'm going to give Bring it on 8 ("spirit fingers") out of 10, for its fun and enjoyment. So for anyone that has ever watched the cheerleaders on ESPN, I recommend it.
