Gremlins

When you think of Christmas, one of the first movies you think of is Gremlins, right? No? Well, I do and that's why today I'm going to review it. Way back before Chris Columbus made little Macaulay Culkin a star and before he made Harry Potter a successful transition from book to screen, he wrote this little gem titled Gremlins.

Most people know the three rules: they're sensitive to light, especially sunlight, don't ever get them wet, and never ever feed them after midnight. As you can expect, each of the rules are broken at some point during the movie, causing catastrophic events. One such event causes these "cute" looking Mogwai, into terrifying-looking gremlins. The main character Billy who has received this Mogwai for Christmas (and essentially is the cause of all the problems to come) feels obligated to get rid of these gremlins and their "leader" Stripe.

Relative unknowns play a majority of the roles, though we do see Phoebe Cates and Judge Reinhold, both from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and Corey Feldman, of the infamous "Coreys". The acting was descent for a movie about little creatures taking over a town and killing people.

This movie has creatures, scary moments, and even some humor is thrown in there. I’m going to give it a 7 out of 10. It’s a fun movie to watch, with little or no thinking required. Enjoy!
